Some advertising in Amsterdam for the Nissan Leaf.
Sometimes you wonder just how advertising people think, I mean this is Amsterdam, Netherlands, land of the bicycle.
So its been fixed now. First good deed of the year.

I have waited so long.

Or so it seems to me anyway. For a national campaign for cyclists safety.
I used to only use a bike for fitness, but the last ten years or so it has become my main transport, too and from work, down to the shops, an evening pootle along the seafront and a month long tour in Europe.
Now all that lycra is getting pushed further and further towards the back of the wardrobe. I want a bike with mudguards, with lights, with a sensible saddle. Most of all I want to ride my bike and not feel the constant danger I do now.
Cycling is much much more than a sport. Its my transport and much more important my pleasure.
The Times Cities fit for cycling
I only hope this isnt another false claim and it really goes to the the people who can make the rules that are needed.
I can remember taking my bike on the ferry over the North Sea to Hoek van Holland in the late eighties. I just could not explain to people I cycled with in the UK when I got home just how good it was there.
Well since then there have been a lot of false hopes, essentially have things moved in the right direction for cyclists in my part of the UK. Not really.
Lets hope this campaign really does turn the tide.

Its Halloween

There will at long last be a new post on here, post CM Halloween ride in London Town.
Well what a great ride that was.
First off the weather, cold yes, but not wet.
Second up, no police which I must confess does make me feel somewhat uneasy, but the ride was suberbly marshalled and one of the best CMs I have been on.
First the ride stayed south of the river, out to Elephant & Castle before turning round and heading back towards the East and crossing the river at Southwark Bridge.
The ride meandered its way further to the east, with many believing Canary Warf was the destination. After a breif stop at Spitalfields market the ride headed out of town on the A10 and out to the Abney Park cemeteryin Stoke Newington. At that time I dont think many of the riders had a clue where they were at. I know I was lost and along with a few others stood around waiting and wondering what to do.
Fortunatly there was one of Britannias finaest along on the ride, a Paramedic on bike. It was his patch and he knew the way home, at least to the station at Tower Hill.
'Follow me' he cried, and we did like the pied piper leading the children.
Fantastic night out, if you ride a bike and are close to London get along to a CM, last Friday of the month on the Southbank by the National Film Theatre for 7pm.
